Dr. Ch’ng Huck Khoon, pursued his PhD studies in Finance at
the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM); He also holds an MBA
(Finance) from the University of Stirling (UK), he is an
Associate Member for Centre for Business and Management
(CBM) University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR). He is also the
Honorary Lecturer at USM (2018 to 2021).
He is the Independent Non-Executive Director of CNI Holdings
Berhad, YGL Convergence Berhad and AT Systematization
Berhad. All of which are listed on Bursa Malaysia Securities
Berhad.
Dr Ch’ng is the Founder and CEO of CHK Consultancy Sdn Bhd.
He conducts seminar for Bursa Malaysia, Securities
Commission approved Training Providers, local and foreign
banks on current economic issues, corporate strategies, Sun
Tsu Art of War for traders and investors, wealth management,
AMLA and digital economy related topics. He has conducted
more than 1000 sessions face-to-face CPE seminar in the last
15 years.
He is columnist in internet media on stock market matters,
apart from being interviewed on financial related topics by
local media. He is a HRDF Certified Trainer and Academic
Council and Examination Board for SDH Institute (Singapore).
Dr. Ch’ng is the author for “How to Select a Winning
Stock”
Dr. Ch’ng was an Assistant Professor at the Universiti Tunku
Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and Senior Lecturer at Wawasan Open
University (WOU). He lectured on Financial Management,
Financial Strategy, Money and Banking, Financial Planning
and Corporate Strategy related modules. He was also a
Capital Markets Services Representative License holder for
15 years with A. A. Anthony Securities Sdn Bhd. One of his
research papers entitled ‘How Many Securities Make A
Diversified Portfolio: KLSE Stocks?’, was selected as the
winner of the Security Commission Capital Market Award 2000.
His main research interests are in investment and behavioral
finance and his research papers have not only been published
in Malaysian journals but also those in India and Australia.
Mr. Phua Lee Kerk, CFA, is currently the Chief Strategist of
Phillip Research. He has wide and varied experience in the
financial advisory and portfolio management fields, having
worked in Japan, Malaysia and Singapore for more than 33
years with companies like Smith Barney (now Salomon Smith
Barney), Barings Securities (now ING Baring), Vickers
Ballas, Jupiter Research, APS Asset Management and Pheim
Unit Trusts Berhad.
He has presented various papers on investment (equity, bond,
derivatives, risk management, financial planning and
others), corporate finance and M&A both locally and overseas
in conferences and seminars organized by World Bank, UNESCO,
UNIDO, Securities Commission, Bursa Malaysia, Bank Negara,
MII, FPAM and others.
He served as Director of the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor
Chinese Assembly Hall, director for Centre for Malaysian
Chinese Studies, Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce and ASJA
International. He was also Governor of ASCOJA, President of
Japan Graduates’ Association in Malaysia and working member
of Malaysia Plan of Actions. He is committee member of the
Economic Research Board of The Federation of Chinese
Associations Malaysia (FeCAM). He is the co-writer of the
book “A Practical Approach To Mergers And Acquisitions In
Financial Services Industry”.
Dr. Choong Chee Keong is a Professor (Tan Sri Dato' Sri Dr
Teh Hong Piow Chair in Banking and Finance) in the Faculty
of Business and Finance, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman,
Malaysia. He obtained his Bachelor of Economics (Hons) and
Master of Economics from the Department of Economics,
Faculty of Economics and Management, Universiti Putra
Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia in 2000 and 2002, respectively.
Then, he received his Ph.D. in Economics (Financial
Economics) from the Faculty of Economics and Management,
Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2007. Courses that he has
taught include Economics, Business Finance, and Statistics
for Economics and Management, History of Economic Thought,
Quantitative Techniques, Basic Econometrics, Econometrics,
Research Methods, Business Research Methodology (master and
doctorate levels).
He is actively involving in research covering the areas of
applied and monetary economics (public finance, stock
market, monetary and fiscal policies) and international
economics (private capital flows, exchange rate,
remittances, trade) and financial economics (financial
sector development and institutional quality). He has more
than 130 papers accepted / published so far in national and
international journal articles including those ranked by
Thomson Reuters (ISI) (17 articles) and indexed in SCOPUS
(14 articles), chapters in books, conference or seminar
proceedings and international newspapers. He was also
awarded 5 Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) from the
Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) Malaysia; 4 UTAR
Research Fund; and 4 collaborations with local public and
private universities (Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Universiti
Teknologi MARA and Monash University Sunway Campus).
He acts as an editorial referee or book reviewer to few
referred journals such as Journal of the Asia Pacific
Economy, Economic Modeling, Singapore Economic Review,
Contemporary Economic Policy, African Journal of Business
Management and World Applied Sciences Journal. He is the
Associate Editor of two international journals, namely:
Journal of Arts Science and Commerce and The Indian Journal
of Commerce and Management Studies.
His biography is included in the 2009 and 2011 Premier

, which profiles the most accomplished persons in 215
countries. Moreover, some of his articles are available at

) and have attracted a couple of interested readers. In
August 2012, he ranked top 13% (out of 149 registered
economists) and 14% (out of 2789 registered economists) in
Malaysia and Asia, respectively. His articles published in
Macroeconomics and Finance in Emerging Market Economies and
Japan, and the World Economy have been cited as one of the
Top Requested and/or Most Downloaded Papers in the years
2010, 2011 and 2012, respectively
Dr. Tee Chee Wee obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (Human
Resource Management), Master of Business Administration
(MBA) and Bachelor of Human Resource Management (Hons) from
Universiti Utara Malaysia.
Dr. Tee has worked as a lecturer in Faculty of Business and
Finance at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman since 2010. He has
been leading and teaching Sun Zi’s Art of War & Business
Strategies this subject for more than 10 years. He had been
lectured more than 20,000 students. Other than that, he was
also lecturing other subjects like human resource
management, management principles, leadership and team
building, organizational behavior, organizational
development and etc. Talent Management was his main research
interests. He also interested on others area like human
resource management, talent management, employee retention,
employee engagement, strategic management, environmental
responsible behavior, green environment practices and Sun
Zi’s Art of War. He had published a few journals not only in
Malaysia but was internationally.
In 2015, he has collaborated with Dongseo University, Korea
under Global Access Asia (GAA) project, to create an
elective subject. It was an online learning course named Sun
Zi’s Art of War in Business Strategies. In 2016, Dr. Tee was
invited by the MOCC team to create a full course of Sun Zi’s
Art of War in Business Strategies in an open learning
platform. He hopes that it will be more people around the
world can gain a particular ancient intelligence and
knowledge through this platform and apply it in today’s
business environment. He is a member of Malaysia Sun Zi’s
Philosophy Strategic Research Association. Also, an
Associate member of Malaysia Institute Human Resource
Management (MIHRM) and closely collaborates with them to
provide training and talk in any topic which relevant to Sun
Zi’s Art of War. He also granted as certified train the
trainer for Alibaba GDT Network. Dr. Tee used to exchange
his Sun Zi’s Art of War’s knowledge with different group of
people through giving several workshops as well as students
and staffs from different countries and from different
industries of people.
Mr. Alex Siew Wee Chai holds a Master in Information
Technology in Business from Lincoln University, United
Kingdom. Prior to that, he obtained his Bachelor ofCommerce
(double major in Accounting and Marketing) from Deakin
University, Australia. He is currently a certif ied HRDF
trainer.
Starting his career at PwC, he pursued the path of a
Derivative analyst over the course of 10 years since
graduation. Alex has extensive experience in Equity and
Derivative investment, audit, corporate finance and Private
Equity Funding. • Alex has served as a fund manager for VCB
Capital, a boutique asset management company for more than 5
years. Combining his knowledge of fundamental market
analysis, quantitative research methodologies, finance,
equity markets, derivative markets and programming skills,
he has played a key role in VCB Capital in the areas of
investment research, strategies formulation, development of
investment framework, identification of new potential
markets for investment, as well as Capital Risk Monitoring
using cutting edge technological tools.
Currently Alex is Fund Director of SC licensed Robo Advisory
firm BH Global Fintech Solutions Sdn Bhd. Over the course of
his career, Alex has developed his own proprietary software
in automated industrial analysis of Derivative and Equity
markets, Derivatives hedging and investment by utilizing his
IT skills combined with his knowledge in Derivatives
markets. His technical analysis skills are recognized by
world class Technical Analysis association MTA (Market
Technician Association) of United States. He has previously
served as the first Chairman for MTA MalaysianChapter.
Alex has held part time lecturing position in various
colleges for more than 10 years. He has lectured in the
field of applied computerized statistics, deploying
Quantitative Models generated from statistical software like
Matlab, Eviews, Revolution R Analytics and IBM SPSS software
packages. He is well versed with different approaches
towards investment and risk management including Fundamental
Analysis, Technical Analysis, Sentimental Analysis and
Quantitative Analysis methodologies. He is currently an
advisor to a quantitative trading academy, BH Global
Algorithmic Academy, where professional workshops on
Fundamental Analysis, Technical Analysis, Sentimental
Analysis and Quantitative Analysis methodologies were
offered to working professionals in the financial industry.
He has also authored an e-book in Capital Market trading and
investment and is still continuing his passion in conducting
research and development in the related capital market area
in collaboration with academicians from various local and
internationaluniversities.
Mr. Chia Gek Liang graduated with a Bachelor of Electrical
Engineering and Master of Business Administration from the
National University of Singapore in 1985 and 1993,
respectively. He also holds a Bachelor of Laws from the
University of London, UK which he obtained in 2010 and a
Certificate in Legal Practice in 2011. He was admitted as an
Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2012.
In 1992 joined the corporate finance division of Commerce
International Merchant Bankers Berhad (now known as CIMB
Investment Bank Berhad) as an Executive. He was involved in
a wide variety of corporate advisory assignments which
includes initial public offerings, debt and equity fund
raising, mergers and acquisitions, reverse take-overs,
corporate and debt restructuring and privatisation
exercises. He left the bank in 2001 and joined Intelligent
Edge Technologies Berhad as its Chief Financial Officer,
where he was responsible for the overall financial
management of the company up until his departure in 2002.
From 2002 to 2012, he mainly did freelance consulting work
and conducting training to private company, while pursuing
his professional qualification as a lawyer. He started
practising law as an Associate with Deol & Gill in 2013
where he was involved in providing advisory on legal
matters. He left Deol & Gill in 2014 to undertake various
general management consulting works on a freelance basis.
From 2015 to 2018, he was attached with Mai & Co as an
Associate, where he was primarily involved in providing
corporate legal services. Presently, he is the Independent
Non-Executive Director of a local public listed company as
well as director and shareholder for a number of private
companies.
Mr. Thamil Durai Chelliah obtained his Bachelor of Laws –
LL. B (Hons) at Anglia Ruskin University of Essex (APU),
United Kingdom. He also holds a Master of Arts majoring in
Corporate and Business Administration from the Anglia Ruskin
University (APU), United Kingdom. Professionally, he is also
a Graduate Member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries
and Administrators (ICSA) in UK.
He started his career as a Legal Assistant at Alan Jones
Solicitor (UK) in 2003, then joint Barclays Bank Plc (UK) as
a Team Manager in 2004. He returned to Malaysia in 2007 and
appointed as Business Manager at Global Vision Research Sdn
Bhd. He is the new breed of “Dynamic” Lecturer employed to
bring forth wisdom to the Faculty of Business & Finance,
University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Malaysia. He is
teaching Organization Behaviour, Company Law, Business Law,
Entrepreneurship Law, Human Resources Management, Business
Ethics related subjects at UTAR and his main research
interest are Law, Business and Corporate Ethics, Corporate
Governance, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and
Comparative Law .
